Oh lawrd.  Yes, there are a great deal of them and I pretty much tune them all out because I do not need that sort of grief in my life.  Besides, I’ve figured out that pretty much ALL Rose hate can be boiled down to one or more of the following factors:

  • Classism - They dislike her because of her background.  They call her a chav, ridicule her education or lack thereof, think she’s unworthy of the Doctor because of her poor upbringing.
  • Ageism - They dislike her because she’s young/younger than them/younger than who they’d rather the Doctor prefer.  They call her out as immature.
  • Sexism - They dislike her because she shows that she is a woman.  She falls in love and loves deeply and this is perceived as a weakness.  WHY?  Falling in love requires strength of character. They don’t like that she’s blonde or that she’s pretty or that she’s NOT pretty (I hear both just as often) and both can be funneled into the sexism banner.  Because what does what she LOOKS LIKE have anything to do with anything at all??
  • Jealousy - They dislike her because they either prefer the Doctor for themselves (??) or for another character of their choosing.  They don’t like the obvious signs of a relationship between the Doctor and Rose and lash out with jealousy at Rose, holding her to standards and ideals that they don’t hold to the Doctor.  (This also applies to the sexism bit, btw)

Rose did NOT rip apart the fabric of time and space.  If this is referring to the events in the series 1 episode, “Father’s Day”, that was hardly entirely her fault as the Doctor did not a) adequately warn her about the consequences and b) took her there in the first place even though he knew the consequences.  This is the whole “holding her to different standards than are held to him” thing I was talking about.

If they’re referring to the Dimension Cannon, this is another “no go”.  The cannon wouldn’t have worked if the fabric of reality wasn’t already being torn apart by Davros and the Daleks.  Rose said as much herself.  It didn’t work until the stars started going out.  At which point she needed to use it to find the Doctor and warn him and get his help.  I’ve heard several people call up what River Song did at the end of series 6 as a counterpoint to this argument.  I’m not as familiar with that as I’ve only seen that a couple times but it would appear that what Rose does is selfish and dangerous and what River does is romantic and wonderful.  Which… no.  But that goes under the “jealousy” above… these are people who ship River/Doctor and are jealous of the connection the Doctor had to Rose.

And, like I said last night, bashing another ship does not strengthen yours. It only makes you look like a monstrous prat.

No my main problem with Rose is that they keep bringing her back. It annoys me how much she’s cheated death and how no writer has had the stones to kill her off, and let us not forget she led Mickey along for ages, seeing as she was infatuated by the Doctor why didn’t she just break up with him? I honestly don’t understand why so many people prefer her, she actually isn’t a very interesting character, she lacks the mystery River Song or even Clara had and the sexism thing can be interpreted in very different ways. Honestly at times she was nothing but a love interest, and women get forced into that kind of role far too often.

Mmm, no.  I think my point still stands here.  Everything you’ve said here is the same shit that’s been said a million times before by a million other Rose-haters who don’t want to admit that they fall under at least one of these four categories (if not more!).

  1. Hello.  Rose came back in series 4.  She appeared at the end of End of Time (like everyone else did).  She’s coming back for the 50th.  That makes three times, yes?  Martha came back twice in series 4 and then again in the End of Time (again, like everyone else did).  Donna came back in series 4 and again at the End of Time (she had a much larger role than the other two did).  Even Nurse Redfern made a reappearance as her “great granddaughter” or whatever.  What about Jack?  Let’s see, he showed up again in series 3.  Again in series 4.  Again in the End of Time… And this is just RTD era.  What about Sarah Jane?  Back twice from her original run and she even got her own spin-off show.  I honestly lost count of how many times we’ve said goodbye the Ponds and River Song but yet the Ponds departure was grievously drawn out and River Song just will NOT stay gone.  And let’s not go into how many times Clara has popped up when she should be gone.  We’d be here all day.
  2. Led Mickey along… blah blah blah. Yeah, that’s sexism, darling.  For one thing, their relationship was not exactly what I would call “firm and strong”.  Mickey was comfortable with seeing other people and while they were fond of each other no doubt, and definitely friends, the romance was just something that they felt they should do.  Her goodbye to him at the end of “Rose” in particular… if I had been Mickey, I would have taken that as “we’re over.”  I think they mutually tried to hold onto each other because it was safe.  But they were far from exclusive.  Remember Mickey talking to Rose about how he was seeing Trisha Delaney in “Boom Town”? Mickey and Rose were a complicated thing but they both knew the truth.  Mickey finally realised it in “Age of Steel” when he decided to stay in the parallel world.  He was the first one to say, “look we both know what’s going on here”.  Honestly, they were both far better off without each other because once apart, that’s when Mickey really started to shine.  Rose too. If you want to blame anyone for the oddness of their relationship, blame RTD and the other writers for dragging it out.  But do not, DO NOT, ever use it as a reason to hate on Rose.  It takes two to tango and singling her out is most definitely SEXIST.
  3. INFATUATED WITH THE DOCTOR.  I love how you say this like he wasn’t just as infatuated with her.  This falls under “jealousy” I think, with a nice healthy dash of MORE SEXISM.  His being in love with her is definitely canon, like it or not, and has been confirmed by just about everyone involved with the show.  INCLUDING MOFFAT.
  4. And, I’m sorry, but I’m still laughing at the “lacks mystery” thing.  You’ve *really* bought into the kool-aid that Moffat is serving, haven’t you?  A human being cannot possibly be interesting unless there is a MYSTERY surrounding them.  Myself, and many others who love Rose and the other RTD companions, enjoy seeing the Doctor value ordinary humans.  He shows them their potential and gives them a chance to shine that they might not have had otherwise.  It’s honestly the best thing about the Doctor Who and it’s something that’s been missing since Moffat took over.
  5. Rose was a hell of a lot more than a love interest and saying that just makes me think you didn’t pay attention at all to the series she was a part of.  Maybe you didn’t watch it at all.  Maybe you’re just regurgitating all the standard “Anti-Rose” bullshit I always see since your responses here seem like they’ve been taken from a prepared script (I swear, it’s almost word for word… EERIE).  Rose saved the Doctor from himself, she saved him from the Dalek when she looked into the heart of the TARDIS, she learned and grew and became a leader during the course of series 2, she didn’t take “impossible” for an answer and built the dimension cannon to return in series 4 to warn the Doctor about the stars going out.  Nothing more than a love interest.  I don’t even know why I bother, because with that statement, you’ve clearly established yourself as a sexist pig.

In conclusion: keep your mindless hateful drivel off my post and for the love of all that is holy, do not tag it.  That’s basic Tumblr Etiquette.

I put these together because I am sick of reading girls putting themselves down on tumblr because they don’t look like any of these women. There are things called high end cosmetics and photoshop that make these women look perfect by hiding their blemishes and wrinkles. The truth is they can afford far better makeup than you. The stuff they use is almost magic. And we all know the things they can do with photographs these days. Strip all that away and they’re just like you. You also have to figure how many of these women had cosmetic surgery. There is no so such thing as a perfect and flawless looking person.

Long overdue post…puts things into a more balanced perspective. Thank you for this compilation.

God this makes me feel better about myself
